Technology at Elonera
We integrate technology thoughtfully to enhance student learning and equip them with relevant digital skills for the future. Our approach ensures that students develop confidence, creativity, and critical thinking while using industry-standard tools in a way that complements the Montessori philosophy.
At Elonera, our approach to technology use is very intentional and developmental across year levels:

-
PTP to Stage 1 (Kindergarten) - We do not use technology in the classroom. The focus is entirely on play, exploration, and early learning foundations.

-
Stage 2 & 3 (6yr - 12yr) - Technology is introduced gradually, with a strong emphasis on skill development such as typing, safe researching, and creative/performing arts projects. These activities are always supervised by teachers and carried out on school-managed iPads. Technology supports learning, but traditional methods remain the primary focus in these stages.

-
Stage 4 - 6 (12yr - 18yr) - Students use iPads and laptops more regularly to support both independent and class work. Even here, technology is not used exclusively but as one of many tools to enrich learning, with guidance around responsible and balanced use.

Across all year levels, students are not permitted to use personal mobile phones or other private smart devices while at school. This ensures they remain focused on their activities and learning without unnecessary distractions.
Student Apps and Software
In Stage 3, students are introduced to foundational digital skills through various platforms. These platforms support literacy, design, and typing proficiency, and are:
-
Microsoft Office Suite
-
Canva
-
Typesy

As students transition into High School, they expand their digital toolkit. These tools enhance subject learning, foster creative expression, and build essential digital literacy. They gain access to:
-
Adobe Creative Suite
-
Education Perfect
-
IXL
-
Kahoot, along with continued use of Microsoft and Canva.

By incorporating modern technology into our curriculum, we ensure students are digitally competent, adaptable, and prepared for the evolving demands of higher education and the workforce.
