Our High School program supports students from Years 7 to 12 in developing independence, critical thinking, and a strong sense of self.
What our Program Aims to do
The Elonera Montessori Adolescent Program (MAP) is a unique program designed to support students in becoming capable, compassionate, and engaged young adults. Through a carefully prepared environment and meaningful learning experiences, students are empowered to:​​​​​​

transform themselves into independent, self-regulating, resourceful and adaptable adults

through our work and our Be Prepared to Think program, become interested observers, listeners and collaborators, critical thinkers and engaged citizens

express their own opinions, develop their own talents, make decisions and solve problems, on their own or collaboratively, with a confidence that is grounded in the practical, social and intellectual knowledge, skills and values they are developing in the Montessori environment

Morning 'Crews'
Compared to a traditional 'homeroom' class, our Crews class runs for half an hour each morning before the start of timetabled classes. This block of time provides students with the opportunity to complete and submittable work, speak with their Crew Coach for support or advice, socialise with other people in their Crew, and take part in valuable wellbeing exercises.
Our Crews are made mixed age with students from Year 7 - Year 10 in the same groups. This expansion of social circles and groups builds on our cross-year model and reinforces social skills and leadership qualities.
Year 7 - Year 10 Electives
Our Montessori Adolescence Program (MAP) focuses on educating children in topic and areas that excite them and motivate their passion to learn.
Operating within the requirements of NESA and in addition to teaching the core curriculum subjects like English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Art and PDPHE, we believe that allowing for students to choose their own topics of interest from Year 7 provides time, opportunity and critical thinking skills in areas of passion.

Our elective rotations run semesterly, meaning students can participate in up to four electives per year.

Occupations
Occupations provides the opportunity for students in Stages 4 and 5 to engage in physical, hands-on learning, inspired by Maria Montessori on a weekly basis for 3 hours.
Students rotate occupation groups each term and while options can vary on a term by term basis, they may include such activities as Gardening, Community, Montimedia, Cookings, Arts and Crafts and Band.

Senior High School (IB)
Our Senior High School program offers students in Years 11 and 12 the opportunity to complete their education through the internationally recognised International Baccalaureate (IB) framework.
Whether following the IB Diploma Programme or the IB Careers Programme, students are supported to pursue academic excellence while also engaging in personal growth, community service, and global awareness.
